Abstract

Organizations today face disruptions, uncertainty, and fast changes that challenge resilience building. One of the barriers is that many resilience strategies miss the role of employee well-being, while there is evidence for how mental, emotional, social, and physical health are required to maintain performance. This chapter investigates workplace wellbeing as a basis of organizational resilience, asserting that in times of upheaval, better wellbeing makes employees more adaptable, involved, and innovative. Recent studies and global perspectives show how interweaving wellbeing into culture, leadership, and crisis management fortifies continuity and sustainability. Finally, the chapter also introduces a conceptual framework showing the dynamic relationship between well-being and resilience, concluding that safeguarding well-being means safeguarding human capital, such that organizations can confront disruption and thrive through a complex environment.
