Abstract

This chapter examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping teaching and learning in social work, counseling, and psychology. AI-powered tools such as simulations, adaptive platforms, and automated feedback offer opportunities for personalized learning, improved engagement, and skill development. However, they also present challenges, including algorithmic bias, risks to academic integrity, reduced opportunities for empathy-building, and data privacy concerns. The chapter argues that AI must function as a complement to, rather than a replacement for, human-centered pedagogy. Drawing on international research and the author's prior work in digital education, mental health, and elder care, it outlines pathways for integrating AI ethically and effectively. Key strategies include fostering AI literacy among students, preparing faculty through professional development, and embedding ethical safeguards into institutional frameworks. The chapter concludes by positioning AI as a partner in advancing inclusion, empathy, and social justice in professional education.
