Abstract

This chapter explores the widening disconnect between traditional academic business training and the evolving demands of contemporary leadership in an AI-driven, VUCA world. As leadership increasingly requires agility, digital fluency, cross-cultural competence, and ethical grounding, many business schools remain anchored in outdated pedagogies and slow-moving curricula. The chapter traces the shift from hierarchical to adaptive leadership models and examines systemic barriers—including institutional inertia, siloed structures, and limited industry-academic collaboration—that hinder reform. It proposes a strategic roadmap emphasizing AI literacy, experiential learning, interdisciplinary approaches, and stronger integration with industry practices. Through best-practice case studies, the chapter underscores the need for urgent educational transformation to prepare future-ready leaders capable of thriving in technologically complex and dynamic environments.
