Abstract

This chapter examines the outcomes of university–industry (U–I) collaborations in India between 2019 and 2025, highlighting their role in advancing innovation and employability. Anchored in the Triple Helix, Open Innovation, and Absorptive Capacity perspectives, the study introduces the Circle of Innovation framework, which conceptualizes collaboration as a cycle of co-creation, knowledge flow, absorption, outcomes, and renewal. Using evidence from Tier-1 cases, the analysis captures both tangible outcomes (patents, startups, prototypes) and intangible benefits (employability pipelines, curriculum integration, and policy influence). The findings reveal persistent challenges in intellectual property rights, absorptive capacity, and Tier-1 dominance, while also pointing to future directions including standardized IPR frameworks, regional innovation clusters, and curriculum–industry alignment. The chapter contributes by offering a scalable model for strengthening U–I collaborations as engines of inclusive innovation and national development.
