Abstract

This chapter examines the paradoxical role of emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in combating gender-based violence in Latin America, where promises of innovation often replicate structural inequalities. Using an intersectional lens, it identifies four friction points—biased data, institutional misalignments, cultural incompatibilities, and algorithmic opacity—that limit equitable outcomes, as seen in Mexico's predictive models, Brazil's reporting platforms, and Chile's protection mechanisms. Proposing gender parity in AI teams, public algorithmic audits, intercultural adaptations, and a regional monitoring observatory, it introduces the concept of “gendered algorithmic violence” and feminist audit methodologies. Blending academic rigor with political urgency, it offers a five-pillar roadmap to democratize technology from the margins and advance inclusive digital justice.
