Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of the role that teachers can play in fostering student's college and career readiness within the context of a modern workforce. Specifically, authors focus on theoretical and practical perspectives on career development and offer concrete strategies that be leveraged in curriculum development, lesson planning, and day-to-day practice. Rather than viewing career development as an add-on to traditional curriculum practices, authors share information about infusing career exploration and planning into the existing curriculum to help students make stronger connections between current learning and future goals.
