Abstract

The predominance of expository teaching in pharmaceutical sciences, focused on theoretical and lecture-based methods, limits practical application and hinders understanding of biopharmaceutical processes such as bioavailability, bioequivalence, and dissolution—essential for ensuring drug efficacy, quality and safety. To address this challenge, BioSimuLab was developed as a pedagogical simulator that reproduces dissolution processes in accordance with NOM-177-SSA1, generating simulated data for reference and test drugs. This tool enables the analysis of dissolution profiles, application of statistical reasoning, and evaluation of bioequivalence through parameters such as the similarity factor (f2) and linear regression. By promoting discovery-based learning and evidence-driven decision-making, BioSimuLab enhances analytical, technical, and interpretive skills, strengthens understanding of pharmacokinetic principles, and bridges the gap between theory and professional practice in pharmaceutical sciences, aligning educational outcomes with professional competencies.
