Abstract

Precision genomics is a new paradigm, a combination of high-throughput genomic and multi-omics technologies, which facilitates proactive, personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and treatment of disease. These include; incomplete variant identification with short-read sequencing, low statistical power to analyze high-dimensional omics data, high computation and storage needs, data misalignments across platforms and complex issues in privacy, ownership and consent of genomic data. Future directions are focused on precision genomics combined with digital twin technology, diagnostics via nanotechnology and nano-genomics, and quantum computing on intractable genome problems, protein folding, and drug discovery. These innovations indicate the direction towards more predictive and preventive, as well as personalized healthcare eco systems.
