Abstract

Plant diseases caused by viruses pose a significant threat to food production, resulting in an annual loss of approximately $ 30 billion USD globally. RNA interference (RNAi) and nanocarrier-based delivery systems have emerged as transformative technologies for the sustainable suppression of plant viruses. This chapter centers on recent advances in nano-carrier-mediated RNAi for plant viral disease control, detailing how nanocarriers protect fragile RNA molecules and enable efficient delivery past plant cellular barriers. Chapter provide a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms, innovations, and practical applications of these delivery systems within the interdisciplinary fields of plant molecular biology, virology, nanotechnology, and crop protection. Emphasizing RNAi as a precision-based, environmentally friendly, and non-GMO strategy and how nanocarriers have addressed major RNAi delivery challenges in natural crop settings.
