Abstract

Nano-virology provides new ways of diagnosing, treating, and preventing viral infections, marking a new frontier of infectious disease management. Lab-on-a-chip and nanosensors enhance diagnostic speed and precision to facilitate rapid outbreak response. Nano-tech-based delivery systems maximize antiviral efficacy and safety to minimize adverse reactions and resistance. Next-generation vaccine technologies utilize nanomaterials and bio-engineered nanostructures to improve understanding of viruses. The chapter includes nanomaterial preparation for vaccine delivery, nanosensors to enhance rapid detection, and nano-based delivery of drugs to provide targeted therapy. New solutions being developed are presented along with considerations of scalability, lack of biocompatibility, regulation, and environmental effects. The chapter finishes with prospects that identify translating laboratory findings into operational virus surveillance, pandemic preparation, and global health enhancement.
