Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged in education to change it from the traditional process into an adaptive and personalized education. The customizable e-learning system considers the differences in learning needs, performances, and requirements of the students to generate a comprehensive learning experience. AI technologies help students learn according to their strengths and weaknesses. The purpose of this study is to conduct a systematic literature review on the teachers' role in the AI-powered personalized adaptive learning (AI-PAL) through the PRISMA process for the recent literature published from 2018 to 2025. The findings demonstrate the effective impact of AI-PAL on students' learning experience. Nevertheless, the study highlights that the teachers' role is neglected, but it is essential for AI-PAL. The absence of teacher interaction in an AI-PAL environment can hamper the overall learning experiences. Therefore, further research is needed to explore how teachers' involvement affects students' outcomes and the AI-PAL impact on different educational environments.
