Abstract

The rapid rise of generative AI, especially large language models, is transforming education through innovations in personalization, accessibility, and adaptive learning. These tools promise to democratize knowledge and bridge global learning divides. Yet, their deployment reveals a fraught ethical terrain. This paper examines the dual character of generative AI as both a catalyst for inclusive educational reform and a source of unresolved ethical dilemmas, including algorithmic bias, privacy risks, and contested intellectual property claims. It critically reviews the limitations of current governance frameworks and introduces the Human Artificial Intelligence Rights (HAIR) model as a proposal for global ethical oversight. By offering actionable strategies and emphasizing stakeholder collaboration, this work argues for a deliberate balance between innovation and responsibility. Generative AI's future in education hinges not on its technical prowess alone, but on the ethical foresight guiding its design, deployment, and regulation.
