Abstract

The Oceanic Nexusexamines the profound and increasingly vital interconnections between Artificial Intelligence (AI), Climate Resilience, and the future trajectory of the Blue Economy. As global reliance on ocean resources intensifies and the impacts of climate change accelerate, the traditional approaches to marine resource management are proving insufficient. This chapter argues that AI represents a transformative force, offering unprecedented capabilities for enhancing our understanding, monitoring, and adaptive management of marine and coastal ecosystems. It highlights how AI can drive climate resilience by providing advanced predictive modeling for extreme weather events, optimizing sustainable aquaculture and fisheries, facilitating real-time monitoring of ocean health, and enabling more effective policy formulation for carbon sequestration and marine conservation. Furthermore, the abstract discusses how this AI-powered approach is crucial for unlocking the full potential of the Blue Economy fostering sustainable economic growth, creating new green jobs, and ensuring equitable benefits, all while safeguarding the ecological integrity of our oceans. Ultimately, the integration of AI is presented not just as a technological advancement but as a strategic imperative for building a resilient, sustainable, and prosperous Blue Economy in the face of a changing climate.
