Abstract

The transition to a sustainable ocean economy requires innovative approaches that integrate environmental protection with technological advancement. This chapter investigates the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and climate-smart policies in advancing the Blue Economy and supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 13, 14, and 9. It highlights the use of AI in marine biodiversity monitoring, climate risk modeling, and sustainable resource management. The discussion includes real-world examples from Indonesia and small island developing states (SIDS), emphasizing multisectoral collaboration and ethical challenges such as data inequality, algorithmic bias, and the digital divide. By outlining strategic pathways for AI adoption in ocean governance, the chapter offers policy and innovation recommendations to promote inclusive, eco-digital futures in the maritime sector.
