Abstract

This chapter examines AI's growing significance in animal emotion recognition. This shows how AI is changing animal emotion research by analyzing vocalizations, facial expressions, and behavioral signals. Artificial intelligence can accurately distinguish positive and negative emotional states using machine learning models built on datasets from several species. This offers new perspectives on animal welfare, health monitoring, and human-animal connections. This chapter discusses modern technologies like artificial intelligence deciphering ungulate vocal emotions, domestic animal facial expression analysis, and pain detection systems. The chapter also promotes multidisciplinary teamwork and large, well-annotated datasets. It also addresses species diversity, data shortages, and ethics. Artificial intelligence in emotional recognition might improve livestock management, veterinary care, and conservation, opening a new path in animal welfare research.
