Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing instruction has emerged as a potent force for transforming educational practices and enhancing student outcomes. This chapter explores the applications of AI-based tools in writing pedagogy, including personalised recommendations, automated feedback, and collaborative learning environments. AI not only empowers learners by providing tailored assistance and real-time corrections but also fosters a culture of engagement and accountability in the writing process. However, the utilisation of AI in education raises significant ethical concerns, such as data privacy, academic integrity, and the risk of diminished critical thinking skills. Addressing these challenges is crucial for maximising the benefits of AI innovations in writing instruction. By examining current practices, potential barriers, and the implications of AI in writing education, this chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these technologies can shape the future of academic writing and encourage sustainable pedagogical practices.
