Abstract

This chapter examines the transformative role of artificial intelligence and automation in accelerating the transition toward net-zero factories and sustainable manufacturing ecosystems. It explores how intelligent systems, including digital twins, machine learning, predictive analytics, and cyber-physical production networks, enable real-time optimization of energy use, waste reduction, and carbon-efficient operations. The chapter further analyzes the integration of smart robotics, sensor-driven monitoring, and green supply chain automation to support low-emission, resource-efficient production cycles. Key challenges, emerging technologies, and future research opportunities are presented to highlight the strategic pathways required for achieving climate-aligned, resilient, and sustainable industrial environments.
