Abstract

AI is expected to not only deprive millions of jobs but also to generate new jobs, requiring a redefinition of the approach to employment. Although AI has certain positive sides, such as increased productivity, efficiency, and a data-driven decision-making process, the establishment of new collaborative positions between humans and AI, it also poses essential challenges. These are mass displacement of jobs, extremely high implementation costs, long-lasting skills gaps, ethical issues, including algorithmic discrimination, and even the increase in wage disparity. To overcome these challenges, the chapter suggests such measures as comprehensive reskilling and upskilling programs, effective policy frameworks (e.g. EU AI act), well-developed digital infrastructure, and a humanistic approach to the creation of AI that is ethically and socially fair. The key to capitalising on the potential of AI is to adopt a multi-faceted approach that would enable the organisation to benefit this technology and reduce the disruptive impact.
