Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) emerges in early childhood, affecting communication, social interaction, and adaptive behaviors required for daily independence. To address these challenges, TEA-MARK was developed as a gamified virtual reality environment that simulates supermarket shopping, including checking a list, identifying products, and completing payment. The system integrates missions, challenges, animations, visual cues, and immediate feedback to sustain attention, support comprehension, and offer a motivating game-like experience. These features are valuable for children with ASD, as they promote engagement, reduce cognitive overload with shorter visually supported instructions, and encourage generalization of skills to real contexts. The prototype was evaluated by ASD experts, whose feedback informed a second version with improved accessibility, clearer instructions, and more immersive exploration. Findings suggest that TEA-MARK is an effective, enjoyable tool bridging therapeutic strategies with playful, everyday experiences.
