Abstract

The electronic structure of semiconductors and topological materials determines their electrical and optical properties. Semiconductors possess a tunable band gap crucial for electronic and optoelectronic devices, while topological materials exhibit unique surface states protected by symmetry and strong spin–orbit coupling. These states enable robust, dissipationless transport. Understanding their band topology and electronic interactions is key to designing next-generation quantum, spintronic, and energy-efficient devices.
