Abstract

Regular physical activity has a useful impact on both learning and health and contributes significantly to academic progress. The main goal of studying the relationship between exercise and academic performance is to provide appropriate guidance to trainers, policy makers and health practitioners to incorporate physical activity into the education system. The main issue is to implement the most suitable type of exercise which can improve academic performance and learning without causing negative impact on the performance. On a biological level, movement encourages the birth of new neurons and increases blood circulation in the brain, which together facilitate memory strengthening and help us manage stress. Recent, research shows that a modest daily dose of movement, of a few minutes, is more powerful for boosting cognitive and academic capabilities. Thus, the challenge is to promote regular activity while defending academic outcomes, reinforcing the necessity for schools to weave exercise into daily lesson plans instead of offering it as an add-on.
