Abstract

In today's competitive business environment, prioritizing the customer is crucial for growth and long-term success. This chapter examines how leading global and Indian brands - Apple, Amazon, Nike, Starbucks, and Zomato - attract and retain customers through a comparative case study approach. While prior research has focused on single firms or sectors, there is limited understanding of how top brands implement customer-centric strategies across diverse industries, integrating technology, emotional engagement, and value alignment. The chapter explores key practices such as personalization, community building, loyalty programs, and purpose-driven initiatives, demonstrating that effective customer-centricity combines functional excellence with emotional resonance. It further highlights the role of digital ecosystems, leadership, and organizational culture in sustaining these strategies. The study contributes by offering a cross-industry, comparative perspective, bridging theory and practice, and linking loyalty and engagement to measurable market outcomes.
