Abstract

The concept of the circular economy has gained considerable global attention as a transformative framework for achieving sustainable development, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing economic resilience. Unlike the traditional linear model of “take-make-dispose,” the circular economy is based on the regenerative principle of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. At its core, the circular economy aims to redefine growth by decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources. It emphasizes a closed-loop system where resource input, waste, emissions, and energy leakage are minimized through intelligent design, reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishment, recycling, and upcycling. This approach not only extends the lifecycle of products but also facilitates the creation of a sustainable and restorative economic model that aligns economic, environmental, and social priorities.
