Abstract

The role of leadership in sustainability transformation has emerged as one of the most critical factors determining how organizations, governments, and societies at large adapt to the growing pressures of environmental, social, and economic change. Sustainability is not merely a peripheral concern anymore; it has become a strategic imperative that requires organizations to rethink how they operate, innovate, and engage with stakeholders. At the center of this transformation stands leadership, which serves as the guiding force in aligning vision, values, and actions with the broader goal of creating long-term positive impacts for both people and the planet. Effective leadership in sustainability transformation demands more than conventional management skills; it requires visionaries who can balance short-term organizational objectives with long-term ecological and societal well-being. Leaders play the crucial role of translating abstract sustainability principles—such as carbon neutrality, circular economy.
