Abstract

This chapter per the authors explains how STEAM education can help reduce the digital divide and support students as they move from high school to college. It discusses how lack of access to devices, internet facilities, and digital skills affects students' learning, confidence, and academic performance, especially among rural, low-income, and first-generation learners. The chapter describes different types of digital divide and their impact on students' readiness for higher education. It also introduces simple and effective teaching approaches such as Inquiry-Based Learning, Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, Blended Learning, Universal Design for Learning, and Culturally Responsive Teaching to strengthen STEAM learning. International examples show how countries and institutions improve access through good policies, teacher training, and community support. The chapter finally provides clear suggestions for schools, colleges, and policymakers to create inclusive STEAM education and make the transition to college smoother and more successful for students
