Abstract

This chapter offers an integrative overview of entrepreneurial resilience in turbulent globalized economies. It situates entrepreneurship within a context of overlapping crises, such as financial shocks, pandemics, geopolitical tensions, climate risks and rapid technological change; and conceptualises entrepreneurial resilience as a dynamic, multilevel process through which entrepreneurs and ventures absorb shocks, adapt and sometimes transform. The chapter synthesises key drivers at three levels: individual psychological resources and learning-oriented mindsets; firm-level capabilities related to strategic flexibility, innovation, digitalisation and financial management; and ecosystem-level conditions. It also highlights major conceptual and methodological gaps, including fragmented definitions, reliance on cross-sectional designs and limited attention to marginalised contexts. The chapter concludes by outlining research directions linking resilience to digital and green entrepreneurship, crisis-prone and emerging economies and AI-enabled ecosystems.
