Abstract

Early childhood is a critical developmental period during which rapid changes occur in children's neuropsychological and socioemotional development, which lay the foundations for its later sentimental, social and cognitive function and behaviour. Disability is now defined from a biopsychological model which recognizes that limitations are a result of the interaction of biological malfunction and environmental factors. The majority of disabilities are associated with atypical brain development and differentiations in cognitive function such as memory, social information processing and attention. Additionally neurodevelopmental disabilities affect intensively socio-emotional growth and skills since they are often accompanied by difficulties in emotional regulation, social interaction, and communication. It is important to note that these difficulties are not a static situation. They are influenced by the context in which the child lives, which indicates the importance of early recognition of symptoms and planning appropriate intervention
