An Exploratory Qualitative Thematic Analysis of Workforce Transformation and Human–Machine Synergy
Abstract
The rapid merging of AI, automation, and intelligent systems has triggered a major change in human labour that we call the Augmentation Era. Instead of the plethora of stories about downsizing, augmentation is the very opposite, and as a matter of fact, workers and machines working with one another can yield spectacular synergy that is human-like and of much greater intelligence. According to the study, the reskilling imperatives required for workforce transformation in this new era are the main focus. The analysis of the interviews illuminated three associated dimensions that are the mainspring of successful reskilling outcomes: (1) technological adaptability, (2) organizational learning culture, and (3) policy-level support systems. The researchers could then classify the Human–Machine Synergy Reskilling Framework as being that of a continuous cycle that does not remain static, but is a cycle where workers can adjust and adapt to the environment so that they are relevant in the intelligent environment. The study has opened paths to the policymaking mind of governments.
