Augmented Creativity Uniting Human Intuition and Artificial Intelligence in Design
Abstract
The process of design generation, its design and perception is undergoing transformation due to the coming together of artificial intelligence (AI) and the innovativeness in humans. An intelligent co-creation that transcends mere automation is a paradigm in which machine intelligence is collaborating with human intuition to enhance creative processes. This review examines the history and progression, theoretical foundation, applications, challenges and future developments of human-AI design collaboration. Since the dawn of computer-aided design, generative AI, and interactive co-creation sites, it provides a historical timeline chart of this development. To determine the useful models such as human-in-the-loop, AI-in-the-loop, and symbiotic co-creation, the article is able to synthesize numerous works of literature. It then critically looks at the way these structures are applied in a range of disciplines, such as architecture, product design, visual communication, fashion and user experience (UX/UI) design.
