Abstract

This chapter examines human–AI collaboration as an emerging paradigm in creativity, design, and innovation, emphasizing a shift from automation-oriented systems toward human-centered and augmentation-based approaches. The chapter per the authors discusses how advances in generative artificial intelligence enable AI to support ideation, exploration, and iterative refinement rather than replacing human creativity. Key theoretical foundations such as distributed cognition, co-creativity, and human-in-the-loop frameworks are analyzed to explain how creative outcomes emerge through interaction between humans and intelligent systems. Practical applications across creative industries and design practices are explored, along with ethical considerations related to authorship, bias, transparency, and creative responsibility. Overall, this chapter highlights how responsible human–AI collaboration can enhance creative potential and support sustainable innovation in the digital era.
