Abstract

The combined growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity have changed the methods of modernities, managing the threats and challenges. This chapter describes the Adaptive Explainable Cyber Defense (AECD) framework which is a structure comprising of several layers and includes Explainable AI(XAI), Generative AI (GAI) and reinforcement learning along with systematic human supervision to address the issues of black box and reactive models in cyber defense. Utilizing the technical literature seeks to improve SOCs' accuracy and robustness against adversarial attacks, and transparency. SOCs operate on a closed-loop pipeline incorporating interpretable reasoning and active generative modelling that allows for pre-emptive defence and responsible automation. Critical infrastructure, finance, and national cyber defense case studies show the AECD's flexibility in high-stake environments. AECD's architecture the integration of governance and ethical protection in the design poses a route towards cyber autonomy in AI with trust, transparency, and resiliency.
