Abstract

This chapter explores the intricate legal framework surrounding effective school governance and human resource management. It examines key legal principles that govern school operations, including compliance with federal and state regulations, and addresses the legal considerations for human resource management within educational institutions. Special attention is given to the legal obligations related to special education and inclusive learning under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The chapter also discusses legal challenges in school governance, such as conflicts of interest, compliance issues, and labor relations. Understanding these legal obligations and challenges is crucial for school leaders to navigate their responsibilities effectively, ensuring that schools operate within legal parameters while fostering a supportive and equitable environment for students and staff.
