Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to formally introduce the field of Developmental and Life Course Victimology and its areas of application, understood as a transdisciplinary area within Victimology to study and conceive, in the first instance, victimization as an active and dynamic process with ecological, intersectional, and transactional dimensions that allows us to account for the mechanisms of continuity and persistance (polyvictimization and/or revictimization), alternative trajectories to victimization cycles (e.g., transition to perpetration of violence), but also points of change (growth and devictimization).
