Abstract

Engineering Operational Maturity is the ability of engineering functions to deliver value consistently using standardized processes, digital integration, alignment with strategy, and workforce readiness. With increasing technological disruption, organizations need to move away from piecemeal, siloed engineering strategies and adopt a maturity framework based on cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making. This concept enables enterprises to reduce inefficiencies, enhance innovation, and align their engineering outcomes with broader business goals. By leveraging maturity models such as CMMI, EFQM, and Baldrige, organizations can assess their current capabilities and design structured roadmaps for growth. Engineering maturity also supports agility, sustainability, and risk management, making it the foundation of enterprise competitiveness in complex environments.
