Abstract

Individuals with developmental disabilities face adaptation challenges when entering dynamic work environments because of the differential abilities in thinking, communication, and motor skills. These challenges can be addressed and attuned through technology support such as audio prompts, video prompts, simplified input systems, and visual aids to assist with both performance of tasks and communication activities. Around 68 articles published in high-impact journals indexed in Web of Science were analysed and wearable technologies, assistive technologies, job coaching apps, virtual reality & augmented reality, and communication aids are the different type of technologies used by individuals, employers, and parents towards livelihood and employment of individuals with Developmental disabilities. This chapter critically analyses 7 selected articles that best represent these technologies.
