Deploying an IoT-Based Smart Management System at Beidahu Ski Resort
Abstract
Traditional ice/snow venue management—relying on manual inspections—increases labor costs, causes response delays, and wastes energy due to poor equipment coordination. Following a near-miss ski lift incident in 2024, this study developed an Internet of Things-based intelligent management system to address the bandwidth-energy trade-off in cold climates and overcome real-time monitoring, coordination, and emergency response shortcomings. An Internet of Things architecture featuring hardware deployment, data transmission strategies, and platform integration was tested at Jilin Beidahu Ski Resort. Results show the average data latency reduced from 2–3 s to 10 mm/h), data transmission success exceeded 98.1% with 95.7% device connectivity.
