Effect of Storage Time on Asphalt Modified by KKK60 Prevulcanized Latex
Abstract
Latex with a Minimum Dry Rubber Content of 60% Pre-vulcanized (KKK60 pre-vulcanized Latex) used as a bitumen modifier. But latex-modified bitumen hardens over time. This study examines how storage time affects the bitumen property and modified asphalt mixture of KKK60 pre-vulcanized Latex. Pen 60/70 asphalt was mixed with KKK60 pre-vulcanized Latex as much as 5% of the bitumen weight. The modified bitumen was then stored and tested for properties and marshall stability at weeks 1, 3, 5, and 9. Asphalt Modified by KKK60 pre-vulcanized Latex becomes harder with the length of storage time as the penetration value decreases. The value of the softening point and specific gravity obtained shows that the length of storage time does not significantly affect their value. Finally, the storage time length also does not significantly affect the value of marshall stability.
