Abstract

The review articles titled “Influence of different colloid solutions on coagulation status in patients undergoing cardiac surgery” and “Volume therapy in cardiac surgery” published in Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, on pages 166-171, Issue 2, Volume 5, 2002[1], and on pages 104-116, Issue 2, Volume 8, 2005[2] respectively, have literature cited, to a significant extent, that is scientifically untenable. Multiple referenced original articles by the same author have since been retracted due to serious concerns, including data fabrication, lack of ethics approval, and irreproducible results. The central conclusions of both reviews rely heavily on these now-invalidated sources and are no longer scientifically reliable. The journal’s editorial office has decided to retract the article as their scientific foundation has been compromised. Plagiarism, fabrication, unethical or redundant publication violates the editorial policy of Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, which follows best practice guidelines given by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) mentioned on the Information for Authors and as codified in the signed statements made by the authors regarding the copyright of their work. This article is being retracted on request of the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board of the journal. Editor-in-Chief: Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia
