Psoriatic erythroderma with fever: Trichosporon asahii in the bloodstream
Abstract
Erythroderma is characterized by erythema and scaling involving more than 90% of the body surface area. It is a life-threatening condition often associated with underlying skin disorders such as psoriasis vulgaris and eczemas. Erythroderma may also result from adverse drug reactions or cutaneous T cell lymphoma. Patients with erythroderma, particularly those with a history of immunosuppressive therapy, are at an increased risk of developing opportunistic infections. These infections can complicate the clinical course, leading to significant morbidity and mortality if not promptly recognized and treated. Herein, we report the case of a 60-year-old patient with psoriatic erythroderma with fever complicated by a bloodstream opportunistic infection caused by Trichosporon asahii .
