Resolution of Gastroduodenal Artery Aneurysm Following Celiac Artery Stenting in Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome: An Incidental Finding in Pancreatitis
Abstract
Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is a rare vascular disorder caused by external compression of the celiac artery, leading to stenosis, and rarely, flow-mediated visceral aneurysms. We report the case of a male patient in his late 30s with a history of chronic alcohol use, presenting with ethanol-induced acute pancreatitis complicated by upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Imaging revealed a gastroduodenal artery aneurysm (GDAA) and characteristic features of MALS. The patient underwent successful laparoscopic release of the MAL followed by celiac artery stenting. Restoration of antegrade flow through the celiac axis resulted in spontaneous resolution of the GDAA without the need for direct intervention.
