Abstract

Garnering cooperation from children of pre-cooperative age/noncompliant young patients to fabricate custom ocular prosthesis in the dental operatory is an impossible task. To overcome this limitation, an interdisciplinary treatment approach was adopted to mitigate the issues. The majority of the prosthetic procedures were performed in the ophthalmic operation theater during the scheduled eye examination under anesthesia and subsequent procedures on the dental chair. Five children were successfully rehabilitated within 24 hours following this multidisciplinary approach. This approach is not only rapid but also emphasizes the important role of multidisciplinary care in the rehabilitation of children treated for retinoblastoma.
