Abstract

A 65-year-old female was referred to our clinic with ocular examination of left eye revealing a double disc appearance, that is, an optic disc-like structure within the area of peripapillary atrophy superonasal to the true optic disc. Optical coherence tomography through the area showed loss of retinal and choroidal layers and a direct communication between vitreous and choroidal cavities, suggestive of a peripapillary sinkhole. Bilateral peripapillary choroidal cavitations (PICCs), characterized by choroidal hyporeflective spaces, were also noted. B-scan ultrasonography revealed a single optic nerve shadow, suggesting pseudoduplication of optic nerve. This rare case highlights a pseudodisc appearance due to a peripapillary sinkhole and bilateral PICC in a nonmyopic patient.
