Abstract

Penetrating orbital wooden foreign bodies are rare and are challenging, particularly in children and when the initial trauma is trivial. They can serve as a nidus for chronic inflammation, abscess formation, or granuloma. We report a 3-year-old child referred with a non-healing right upper eyelid abscess, later found to have a retained wooden foreign body missed on initial Computed Tomography (CT) Scan. Surgical removal via orbital exploration led to complete recovery. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of intraorbital wooden foreign bodies and emphasizes the importance of detailed history, including trivial trauma, thorough clinical evaluation, and timely surgical intervention.
