Amelioration of Gait Spatiotemporal Parameters through G-Studio in a Patient with Parkinson’s Disease
Abstract
Abstract Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that significantly impairs movement, leading to debilitating gait disturbances such as shuffling and freezing. Effective rehabilitation strategies are essential to enhance mobility and quality of life for individuals with PD. This case report explores the impact of an intensive 4-week gait training programme on a 69-year-old female with PD at Hoehn and Yahr Stage 3. Utilising advanced gait analysis tools like G-Studio, the programme included treadmill training, body weight-supported exercises and home-based routines enhanced with auditory and visual cues. Pre-rehabilitation assessments showed significant gait impairments, while post-rehabilitation results demonstrated notable improvements in spatiotemporal parameters and overall stability, highlighting the effectiveness of a comprehensive rehabilitation approach. The detailed spatiotemporal analysis provided by G-Studio allowed for precise assessment and tailored intervention, leading to significant clinical improvements. The case emphasises the importance of advanced gait analysis in monitoring and enhancing rehabilitation strategies for PD patients. By focussing on spatiotemporal parameters, clinicians can develop more effective treatment plans, improving patient outcomes and reducing the risk of falls. This report underscores the need for further research to validate these findings across larger cohorts and determine the optimal duration and intensity of rehabilitation required for sustained benefits. The integration of technology like G-Studio into routine clinical practice offers a practical framework for managing gait disturbances in PD.
