Abstract

Background: The global prevalence of HPV is rising. Despite numerous studies on its effects on psychological dimensions, quality of life, and sexual performance, its impact on women’s sexual quality of life (QoL) remains unclear. This study assesses the sexual QoL among women with genital HPV and the influencing factors. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 395 women undergoing HPV testing. The data collection instrument comprised a questionnaire covering demographic characteristics, HPV-related traits, and a survey on sexual quality of life (SQOL-F). Univariate and multiple linear regression models were employed to forecast factors influencing the sexual QoL. Results: The mean age of the participants was 30.58 ± 5.84 years. A statistically significant association was found between HPV infection in women (  = −4.39, CI = −7.94, −0.84) and their husbands (  = −4.89, CI = −8.46, −1.31) and lower sexual QoL in the participants. This association persisted even after adjusting for variables in the multiple linear regression models. Among the individual characteristics of the participants, only female occupation demonstrated a significant relationship with sexual QoL. Employed women scored lower on total sexual QoL compared to housewives (  = −3.94, CI = −7.77, −0.02). Conclusion: This study highlights HPV’s significant effect on women’s sexual QoL. Healthcare systems should offer support in primary care, including education and counseling.
