Abstract

Abstract The tissue microarray (TMA) was created to enhance the efficiency of molecular profiling in cancer research through the rapid execution of large-scale studies. This technology facilitates the simultaneous examination of proteins or genes on a single glass slide, that contains an array of hundreds of paraffin-embedded tissue cores. TMAs can be assessed using immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization techniques. They allow the analysis of both normal and cancerous tissues, making them particularly valuable for studies aimed at validating cancer biomarkers. This article will focus on the application of TMA within the field of gynecological pathology. Suggestions for careful considerations to avoid the typical challenges associated with this technology are also provided.
