Abstract

Background Uncontrolled hemorrhage remains the leading preventable death cause among individuals with trauma. Treatment of shock after trauma remains a clinical challenge. Aim To evaluate the role of low-dose norepinephrine (NE) administration in the early 24 h period among traumatic patients and hemorrhagic shock (HS). Patients and methods This randomized prospective study was carried out on 60 patients aged from 18 to 65 years old, both sexes, with recent HS and trauma within first 24 h, multiple organ injury, and mean arterial blood pressure less than 65 mmHg in Emergency and Traumatology Department, Tanta University Hospitals. Patients were randomly separated into two groups; group I received the advanced trauma life support protocol, and group II received early administration of low-dose of NE with advanced trauma life support protocol. All patients were subjected to clinical examination, usual history taking, routine laboratory findings, and radiological investigations. Results There is a significant increase in group II regarding mean arterial blood pressure and potential of hydrogen in all time intervals ( P
