Abstract

Background Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) indicates the genuine correlation between atherogenic and protective lipoproteins and is linked to the dimensions of pre- and antiatherogenic lipoprotein particles. Aim To evaluate the association between AIP and coronary artery disease (CAD) severity among individuals with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Patients and methods This current work was conducted on 100 patients aged 42 to 79 years old, both sexes, with ACS. We did coronary angiography for each patient, and we calculated the Gensini score to determine CAD severity. The participants were allocated into two groups depending on their Gensini score group I ( n =18): mild/moderate (CAD) group and group II ( n =82): severe (CAD) group. All patients were subjected to electrocardiogram, trans-thoracic echocardiography, and coronary angiography. Results A significant positive association existed between Gensini score and AIP ( P
