Abstract

This dataset provides the volumetric wake of a 1:148 scaled horizontal-axis floating wind turbine subjected to platform motions. Measurements were performed with three-dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry (3D-PTV) using helium-filled soap bubbles (HFSB) as tracer, enabling non-intrusive, high-resolution, time-resolved flow reconstruction over large volumes. The dataset covers the near to mid-wake region, from 1 to 5 rotor diameters downstream, and includes a fixed condition and surging and pitching motions at frequencies typical of platform rigid-body modes and higher wave-induced frequencies. For each motion condition, the dataset contains three-component velocity fields and derived flow statistics. The dataset provides a benchmark for validating numerical simulations and for advancing understanding of motion–wake interactions in floating wind applications. In the document "CompanionDocument.pdf", information about the data is reported, including: setup description with sketch, parameters of the test cases, data variables, data file naming, reference system, and more.
