Abstract

Developed in response to the call INFRA-2021-SERV-01-07: Research infrastructure services advancing frontier knowledge, ERIES has enabled not only physical access to leading experimental facilities, but also the generation and dissemination of high-quality research outputs. Within this context, a curated collection of seven wind tunnel datasets has been assembled, capturing a diverse range of experimental setups, boundary conditions, and research objectives addressed through transnational access activities. All datasets were obtained at the atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel at Eindhoven University of Technology. A key strength of this collection lies in its open availability. By making these datasets accessible to the broader community, ERIES extends its impact beyond the users directly involved in the experiments. The datasets provide a valuable and practical resource for the validation and calibration of numerical models, which remains a cornerstone challenge in wind engineering and related disciplines. The presence of multiple, heterogeneous datasets enables systematic testing of model performance across varying flow regimes, geometries, experimental conditions and fields of interest. This diversity encourages wider engagement, particularly from researchers and practitioners who may not have direct access to large-scale experimental infrastructure. In this way, the dataset collection reinforces the objectives of the INFRA-2021-SERV-01-07 call by advancing frontier knowledge through both access and openness. It contributes to a more collaborative and transparent research landscape, where experimental data serve as a shared foundation for innovation, improved risk assessment, and the development of sustainable engineering solutions in the face of natural hazards.
